Häffner at the Schwarzer Löwe Business Award
This year, the new Baden-Württemberg “Schwarzer Löwe” business award was presented for the first time. Häffner was competing in the “Digital Transformation” category.
On November 3rd, 2022, the nominees in a total of five categories were gathering in Stuttgart for the inaugural “Schwarzer Löwe” awards ceremony. In addition, a special prize was awarded in the humanitarian field. The gala has taken place within this year’s Digital Lions Expo 2022 at the ICS Messe Stuttgart. The trade fair and networking platform offers digital pioneers, start-ups and innovative companies and speakers an opportunity for presentation and collaborative exchange.
Häffner was competing in the “Digital Transformation” category with its newly created digital services – Häffner Smart Chemicals. The company ventured into the field of Chemistry 4.0 together with cooperation partner and technology start-up Packwise in the spring of this year. The goal: smart solutions to optimize the supply chain through Chemicals-as-a-Service models.
The current Häffner Smart Chemicals solution portfolio includes three basic service models:
- Track & Return: Automated control of empties management and container monitoring in relation to sensor data such as location, fill quantity and temperature.
- ChemAbo: Automation of replenishment management in the context of so-called “vendor-managed inventory” concepts.
- ChemLeasing: The model is expected to be available at the beginning of next year and will also enable billing according to consumption (“pay-per-use”). This will give customers a decisive competitive advantage through increased liquidity for products with a high value content.

A total of nine companies were competing in the “Digital Transformation” award category with a wide range of digital projects and services. In the end, a jury of experts made up of representatives from the business, media and science sectors decided on the winners in each category. Behind the award ceremony of the “Black Lion”, are the daily newspaper publishers of the Stuttgart region.
Unfortunately, Häffner was not able to take a “Black Lion” with them to Asperg, but our Managing Director Thomas Dassler and Packwise Managing Director Gesche Weger nevertheless had a thoroughly successful evening in Stuttgart. We congratulate all award winners and wish them all the best for the future with their projects!
